H.Y.P.E (Dr. Adia Winfrey) Changed My Life.
Dr. Adia M. Winfrey is an inspiration to me beyond measure. Let me tell you how...
I remember December 2013 her protegee Brandi Williams invited me to their H.Y.P.E. Christmas Showcase to take pictures and film. By passing Brandi in the hallway I saw her repping the infamous HYPE t-shirt. Brandi pulled me to the side and started talking about her mentor Dr. Dia and how she would love to introduce us to one another. I ended up showing up to the rehearsals for the Christmas showcase at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center of the Arts. Arriving there I met so many other people from my school. The funny part is I knew of other people in the school's drama club , but seeing them outside of school in their own artistic world exposed me to a world I wanted to be apart of. So that night I met the world famous "Dr. Dia". I felt like I met a celebrity NO JOKE. The energy, the influence, the dedication she put in her work, her name, and in her brand was so beautiful to me. To see a young female doing and taking what she wanted, I immediately knew I wanted to be apart of this organization in which she created. So Brandi introduced us and she was so down to earth and thanked me for showing up and told me to do my thing with the camera. At that very moment that was when I filmed and took pictures of my first concert scene at 16 years old. The night of the showcase it was SOO organized. Brandi Williams and Jose Richmond were phenomenal hosts that night. Here is a old clip I did of the rehearsals and that night.
That night I met so many new artist which are truly talented such as: Jinx Salem (@salem.jinx), Jose Richmond (@josecrown_) , Bakari Benton (@thelyricist16 ) ,Jaiee Mariee (@everythingmariee), Damone Tyrell (@damonetyrell) , Alec (@_hizzyknows), Setese (@bigdaddy_tese), Spoken word artist such as Jasmine and Brandi (@thereallotus_) After the night of the event, Dr. Dia invited me to many more events, and I had lunch with her and Brandi during career day at the school. After that we did gigs and events and established not only a business relationship but a personal relationship that motivated me like I never had before. This is the part where Dr. Dia inspired my ARTiSTiC CAREER because she challenged me and let me be free with my art. No matter where we went she taught me about my history and power as a BLACK WOMAN. She taught me about influence about what you do and how it can change someone else's life for the greater and positive good. The simple fact is she's a doctor using the education she has under her belt to influence her study and her craft everyday. She gives back to her community and the youth by being active and actually helping and growing their mind set. I thought our adventure would stop there BUT NO! Doc talked about me to people in the film industry and showed them my work.

......................................................................................................................... For the going on four whole years I've known Dr. Dia, she has helped me stay focused and created inspiration for me and my future. With her, I was exposed to my first movie extra experience during the "All Eyez on Me" filming , plus so many more experiences I can't even explain, that give a "take my breath away" type feeling. She not only teaches the HYPE curriculum she created herself, but she also raps! Who does that? Dr. Dia! She gave me the hope like hmmm if she can heal the youth through music I can heal people with my visuals and film. Ever since December 2013 and counting to this day we still have a artistic and spiritual connection. I've gone with her to Talladega, Alabama to film and do photos in the Knoxville community along with Brandi; and we had such a great time. So if this blog even did her justice, click here to find out more about Dr. Adia Winfrey and OHHH!! You can buy her products here on my store, which includes her t-shirt and both of her books.
